Lenox Square has successfully landed another local retailer to relocate within its mall. Blue Corset Co. recently closed in East Andrews boutique and will reopen in the "Luxury Wing" of Lenox Square later this summer. Blue Corset is a purveyor of fine lingerie and is known for impeccable customer service. Taking 1,200 square feet adjacent to Neiman Marcus on mall level, the space was formerly home to Hermes. At one point there was talk that both Tom Ford and Zegna were interested in the space but apparently they both pulled out. Hermes on the other hand might now wish they had stayed as they are in a temporary location next to Fado Irish pub on Buckhead Ave. Hermes is awaiting the completion of what Ben Carter's "The Street's of Buckhead" where they will be one of the signature retailers. Repeat Atlanta!

Hermes got screwed. At least Simon isn't leasing any space in Lenox to retailers like Skillz (a local urban clothing retailer with locations in Underground, Greenbriar, Town Center at Cobb, (gulp) Perimeter Malls). Unfortunately, the same is not true at Mall of Georgia where Simon has let Skillz come in right next to Armani Exchange. Georgio would have a heart attack if he knew.

ReplyDeleteLet's see, would you rather have a luxury retail business hidden behind a bar(Fado) in a blighted development OFF peachtree street, or at the entrance to Neiman Marcus in the busiest mall south of DC?!?!?
They are probably already calling Simon begging to be let back in. There has to be a co-tenancy clause that gets them out of the Ben Carter lease...

ReplyDeleteHermes moved in anticipation of the completion of The Streets of Buckhead. Weeks before their scheduled move, Carter announced that his project would be delayed at least six months. The move had to go forward as their lease had expired and they were unable to back out of moving.

Is the "coming soon" Japonais banner still in front of Fado? That was always good for a laugh.
Yes, as of last week, the Japonais "coming soon" sign was still up. Officially, they are taking a "wait and see approach" , having not signaled they want out of the project yet. Equinox fitness clubs has however informed Ben Carter they no longer have the desire to be apart of the project and that he should look for another fitness club. Others have said more retailers have opted out though nothing can be confirmed as of yet. More to come...
