St. Regis Scores Big, Signing Pano's

New to the Atlanta market, the St. Regis hotel has done what no recent hotel has been able to do, land an established Atlanta area restaurant for their property. Scheduled to open in early March 2009, the hotel will feature a revamped and renamed Buckhead Life restaurant, its Flagship "Pano's" (having dropped Paul from the name to reflect his departure from the company). Pano's and Paul's currently located at West Paces Ferry and Northside Parkway, in a Publix shopping center will not renew their lease when it expires at years end and will hope to make a smooth transition to their new home closer to its sister restaurants "Chops" and "Nava". Repeat Atlanta!

Martin + Osa Taking Unlucky Space at Perimeter

Martin + Osa, a new lifestyle brand from American Eagle, will be opening late this year at Perimter mall. Located in a space that formerly housed its parent, American Eagle as well as most recently a failed GAP concept, Forth & Towne, the store will have its work cut out for it to avoid what has been a bad space of late. Repeat Atlanta!

Cafe Dupri SO SO Closed

Cafe Dupri, located just south of Peachtree on Piedmont Road, has closed its doors, permanantly. Having been opened for just over 3 years, it was apparently unable to stay afloat with the poor economy and heavy restaurant competition in the area. Guess having a celebrity owner does'nt make you immune to closure... Repeat Atlanta!

Zucca Replaces Zocalo in Decatur

Zucca, an Italian restaurant currently with three locations OTP, finally makes its delectable cuisine available to those ITP. Taking the space in Decatur Square vacated by the closure of Zocalo, the new restaurant is scheduled to open in the coming months. Be sure to check this place out as their pizza was voted "best in the Southeast!" Repeat Atlanta!

BLT Steak Makes A "B" Line Back Home?

BLT Steak from chef Laurent Tourondel ("BLT" being Bistro Laurent Tourondel) had previously been announced to be the featured restaurant at the W's new Atlanta Downtown hotel. Sadly the downturn in the economy has apparently led them to delay their opening, alas there is talk it may never open. Repeat Atlanta!

P. Valentine Kisses Store Goodbye

P. Valentine boutique on Edgewood Avenue officially announced their closure today. Was it the repeated thefts, the poor economy, or perhaps the fact that their store had little that differentiated it from any other indie boutique in Atlanta? Whatever the cause or causes, a "Closeout Sale" is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday August 23rd from 11AM - 9PM. Repeat Atlanta!

Shula's Set To Tackle Atlanta Market

Shula's, a Florida based steakhouse, started by namesake, Don Shula, has plans to open their first Atlanta restaurant next year. After the success of the first restaurant in 1989, the chain now has 4 concepts in 17 states. All restaurants are located within hotels, but the property that has landed Shula's "347 Grill" concept is unknown. At this point, a good guess would be one of the new hotels in Ben Carter's "The Streets of Buckhead" development. Repeat Atlanta!

Set to receive the license early next week, Legal plans to be open for business Wednesday, August 20th. Occupying two levels within the Hilton Garden Inn off Marietta Street on Baker Street, this initial entry into the Atlanta market for Legal may be the first of many. Other possible locations being talked about are in Dunwoody, Buckhead and possibly Hartsfield-Jackson. Repeat Atlanta!

Crescent Moon Files For Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

As expected, Crescent Moon has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Currently with locations in Decatur (downtown), Tucker (Northlake Mall) and Buford (Mall of Georgia), Crescent Moon has succumbed to the inevitable. After months of poor economic conditions paired with rising food costs and poor service, closure of all locations seems likely. Once said to be opening as many as 4 additional locations, that now seems highly unlikely. Repeat Atlanta!

Dallas-based Consolidated Restaurant Operations, Inc. , which previously announced they had signed a lease for their III Forks Prime Steakhouse at Terminus 200 will opening another concept as well. Cantina Laredo, their Mexican concept will also open in Terminus 200 next year. With no locations in the area already its hard to compare it to anything other than Rosa Mexicano, their Atlanta location being Atlantic Station. As with Rosa, Cantina Laredo will offer tableside guacamole as well as many other authentic Mexicn dishes complimented by signature sauces. Repeat Atlanta!

III Forks Takes A Bite Out Of Buckhead

Dallas-based Consolidated Restaurant Operations, Inc. will bring their III Forks Prime Steakhouse to Terminus 200 next year. Chow Baby Gives Long Awaited Birth To New "baby"

Chow Baby, currently with one wildly popular location on Howell Mill road, is mere days away from the birth of a brand new baby. Located in Cobb Galleria, the new location will be 8,000 square feet, feature two stir-fry lines, two bars , a private dining space and have an outdoor patio. Stricken with unfortunate luck in the construction and completion of the new site, Chow Baby will have its grand opening this Wednesday, August 20. Repeat Atlanta!

China Grill Has Its Eye On Atlanta

New Intercontinental Hotel In Midtown?

It had been said that IHG was seeking a location for a second property in the Atlanta area; it seems they may have found one! According to multiple sources both within the company and others in the industry, the new Intercontinental will be across the street from the new 1010 Midtown development and may occupy space formerly home to Jocks and Jills. With the recent passing of Stevan Porter, President of the Americas for IHG it would be no surprise to see this property built and or dedicated in his honor. IHG has its North American headquarters in Dunwoody and the Porters reside in the metro area. Expect an official announcement by the end of the year. Repeat Atlanta!

New Luxury Retailers Coming To Phipps?

Marc Jacobs, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana are all said to be opening this fall in Phipps Plaza. None of these have been formally announced or verified by anyone that I'm aware of. I can think of only two "semi prime" spaces available, those being the former Sigrid Olsen on the upper level of the Nordstrom wing and the recently closed Sharper Image space on the upper level across from the AMC box office. Repeat Atlanta!

It's Official! Potery Barn Kids Taking Vacated PB Space At Lenox

After months of speculation, it has been confirmed that Pottery Barn Kids will move into the upper level space formerly occupied by Pottery Barn at Lenox. Repeat Atlanta!

Here To Serve Bringing "Top" Talent To aja?

Atlanta based, Here To Serve Restaurants, has secured the former Emeril's restaurant in Alliance Center near Phipps Plaza for a new concept, aja. Rumored to serve similar fare to that of rival Buckhead Life Restaurant Group's Bluepointe, aja will feature Asian cuisine, with a twist! Adding to the excitement of this new concept, former Top Chef contestant, Dale Talde, is said to be running the kitchen. With fellow Top Chef Finalist, Richard Blais at sister restaurant Home, it would seem as though Tom and his restaurant team are attempting to duplicate the success of Home with Dale at aja. Expect a formal announcement within weeks and an opening by the end of the year. Repeat Atlanta!

Artuzzi's: Not So Hot Anymore...Was It Ever?

Atlanta based Artuzzi's Italian Kitchen, once with grand expansion plans for the southeast and across the nation, seems to be experiencing growth problems among other things. With 10 locations at one point, they now have just 5. Their Johns Creek and Sandy Springs stores both closed in recent months and more closures could be on the way. Artuzzi’s website listed all their "future locations" with stores in Florida, North Carolina, and Texas. Now, all that remains is the current Atlanta Artuzzi’s. In comparison to FIGO, Artuzzi’s just doesn’t compare. While they are both similar in price, FIGO delivers on the tableside olive oil and fresh bread as well as the overall quality of the food. Repeat Atlanta!
